Bill Hall came within a double of hitting for the cycle and propeled the Brewers towards a win with his home run in the eighth inning. He began a rally that would eventually drive in 5 runs and give the Brewers a 12-9 win over the Reds.
Milwaukee finds itself back at the .500 mark with six games left and need to simply win three of them to finish without a losing record. A big reason for the turn around this season has been the play of Carlos Lee and Bill Hall. Lee matched his career high of 113 RBIs by driving in two runs Monday night with a single in the seventh to tie the game at seven and a sacrifice fly in the eighth to help the Brewers pull away.
But it was Hall who started the rally in the eighth. Hall had an RBI triple in the second to tie the game before Russell Branyan homered to give the Brewers a 3-1 lead. He singled and scored in the fourth as Milwaukee pulled away again from Cincinnati 5-3. And then with the team losing 9-7 in the bottom of the eighth Hall lead off the inning with a solo shot to deep center field. Damian Miller followed with a triple to score a run and Brady Clark fought off a pitch to lace it up the middle to give the Brewers the lead. Geoff Jenkins would add another run with his single to give the Brewers a 12-9 lead. Hall came back to the plate with two outs and had a chance at hitting for the cycle but was walked by the Reds.
Tomo Ohka pitched well going six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits, but the bullpen came apart in the seventh and eighth allowing six runs. Jose Capellan came on in the seventh and got two outs for his first career victory. Derrick Turnbow converted his 36th save in 40 chances for the Brewers to lock down the victory.
