The Crew took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Lyle Overbay hit a sacrifice grounder to second to plate Corey Hart who tripled to deep right after Rickie Weeks had lined out. The Marlins would strike back in the third when Juan Pierre hit an RBI double to left to score the catcher Matt Treanor.
Doug Davis who was going for his 10th win in 12 tries pitched a strong game allowing only one run on five hits. He did walk three in his seven innings of work and looked to be in line for a win at the bottom of the seventh inning.
Wes Helms led the inning off with a double before Weeks and Hart struck out swinging. Overbay was intentionally walked to bring Carlos Lee to the plate but Guillermo Mota ended the inning with a strikeout against Lee as well. Kane Davis came on for a 1, 2, 3 eighth before giving way to Derrick Turnbow in the ninth. Turnbow was just as effective getting Carlos Delgado to ground out to short before retiring the next two batters with strikeouts.
The Brewers drop their first during the 12 game homestand and now find themselves two games under the .500 mark. The team is also just one win shy of matching their second half record of last year, three more wins at home would tie their 2004 mark at Miller Park of 36-45.
The Braves come to town next to take on Ben Sheets on Friday.
