Geoff Jenkins finished with five of Milwaukees 21 hits in Thursdays 12-9 victory over the New York Mets, but it was his fifth hit, a single in the 9th inning, that opened the gates.
Brady Clark scored the tying run on the aforementioned hit by Jenkins. The next batter, Damian Miller, gave the Brewers the lead for good with and infield RBI single and Wes Helms followed with a 2-run double and the Brewers went on to take two-out-of-three against the Mets.
Julio Santana, one of six Brewer pitchers on the day, got the win in relief and Derrick Turnbow pitched the 9th for his 23rd save. The late-inning offense took starter Doug Davis off the hook for his poorest start of the season. Davis wilted in the heat and humidity Thursday, lasting only 3.2 innings while walking a whopping total of seven Mets. Lefty Dana Eveland looked good again, pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless again.
The Brewers travel to Philadelphia for the start of a three-game series with the Phillies Friday.
