Brewers Falter Again in Loss

Offense still in funk

Dennis Jenders

Even San Francisco pitcher Brad Hennessey is finding his offense. In the Brewers 3-0 loss to the Giants Hennessey belted his first career home run. On a 2-0 fastball, that didn't look very good, from Victor Santos Hennessey lifted the ball to left field, "I was prepared to never hit a home run in my career in the big leagues" he added.

Santos mistake was even more embarrssing as he did hold a no-hitter into the fifth before giving up the home run. The Brewers offense couldn't give him a hand as they were limited to 3 hits and a walk.

The Brewers have now been shut out through 19 innings and will need to rediscover their stroke to rebound on Friday. Doug Davis, 9-7, will look for his tenth win as he faces Kirk Rueter, 2-7, of the Giants. Rueter has had just two losing seasons in 13 years as a starter in the majors and was recently demoted to the bullpen. After some disagreement with management he has been given another opportunity.

The Brewers will need to take advantage of a struggling Rueter as they will face Giants ace Jason Schmidt this weekend. With the Mets, Phillies, and Cardinals coming up in the next week the team needs to work out the details and get back on track this weekend.
