Reds Are Lights Out

Brewers pitching is pounded in 11-6 loss

Eric Sacharski

The only thing that could stop the Cincinnati Reds offense from hammering the Milwaukee Brewers pitching Friday night was a blown transformer, which caused a 25 minute power failure delay. When the lights came back on, the Brewers found themselves on the wrong end of a 11-6 blowout.

Homeruns from Joe Randa, Felipe Lopez and two from Adam Dunn paced the Reds 15-hit attack Friday. Starter Tomo Ohka was the main flamethrower for the Brewers, but relievers Ricky Botallico and Justin Lehr also were victimized by the Reds power display.

There were several good moments for theBrewers in the loss.

Geoff Jenkins continued his hitting streak with a two-out, two-run double in the first inning. Rickie Weeks hit his seventh homerun of the season, a two-run shot in the 8th inning. And Carlos Lee finally got off the schnid, hitting an RBI single in the 3rd.

But that was about it. The rest of the game story was all about the Reds and their offensive outburst.

The Brewers will try to rebound tonight when Victor Santos (2-10, 3.82) faces Brandon Clausen (4-7, 4.22) in a 6 pm start. Clausen gave up five homeruns in his last start against the Cubs (a 9-4 loss), so lets hope the Brewers can get good wood off of him tonight.
