Wild Card Race
The Brewers have gone 5-2 in their last seven games and played very well against the NL Wild Card leading Houston Astros. Before meeting them again later this week the Brewers will find themselves facing the Arizona Diamondbacks. With the Astros clinging to a 1/2 game lead they will face the Florida Marlins. If those teams beat up on each other the Brewers could find themselves in the thick of it come next Sunday.
Also, a quick note. MilwBrewers.com staff have been pretty busy lately. I missed game coverage this weekend because I was out of town but did get the recaps up this morning. Sorry about that!

Miller Park Tops List
The Brewers should also be proud to hear that
Sports Illustrated named Miller Park as the best value a fan can get in Major League Baseball.
From SI.com, "SI.com decided to take a comprehensive survey of the experiences at each major league ballpark in order to determine where fans are getting the best bang for their buck. We sorted the information into seven categories and rated each park on a 1-10 scale, 10 being best."
While I think those beers are a bit expensive you can't go wrong with the facility as a whole. Great views, pretty good ticket prices, and an exciting team. The Brewers are definitely moving up in the world.
SI.com agrees, "A casual atmosphere, good eats and cheap tickets -- what's not to like? Oh, yeah, a team that hasn't had a winning season since 1992 and has yet to make any noise in the National League Central since moving there in '98. But with a wealth of young talent rising up to the majors-- guys like Weeks, J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder -- the Brewers are starting to show signs of playing the quality of ball Milwaukee fans, and this stadium, deserve."

Brewers to Make Profit
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported today that the Brewers should see a profit this season. With a surging interest in the team and season attendance over the 2 million mark the club should see it's profits in the $2-5 million range.
Not bad at all. Principal owner Mark Attanasio also said he would increase the payroll next season to keep the club competitive.

Sheets Lost for Season
Argh, after Ben Sheets had to deal with the inner-ear ailment earlier this year I thought he was finally back to form. But the team lost the club ace and big right-hander for the season after tearing a back muscle in his last start. Sheets looked like he was on his way to another complete game before grimacing and calling out the training staff. It didn't look good from the start. Initially the team thought he had a pulled muscle, but it didn't look like that from what I saw. And sure enough - OUCH!
